Mr. Edward Effah founded Fidelity Group in October 1998 and serves as its Chief Executive Officer and Chairman. Mr. Effah serves as Chairman of Fidelity Bank Ghana Ltd. (Also known as Fidelity Bank Limited). He served as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Fidelity Bank Limited. He has over 20 years experience as a Senior Finance Executive. He served as a Director of Global Emerging Markets (GEM) Ghana Limited from 1995 to 1998, Chief Finance Officer of Inter-Afrique Group from 1994 to 1997, Risk Manager from 1990 to 1994 of Rudolf Wolff, the City of London based derivatives and foreign exchange trader and an auditor and management consultant with Coopers and Lybrand, London from 1987 to 1990. Mr. Effah has extensive experience in business strategy formulation, calculated risk taking, strategy execution, team building, mentoring, business innovation, finance, technology strategy, capital raising, investor relations, managing boards and effective communication with key stakeholders. Under his leadership, Fidelity has been able to establish itself as a leader in its markets in Ghana in terms of reputation, profitability and assets under management. He has over fifteen years of experience in senior executive positions in finance and treasury management. He serves as Chairman of College of Health Sciences. He served as Board Chairman of Fidelity Capital Partners Limited. He serves as a Director of Fidelity Equity Fund 1 Limited and Africa Capital LLC. He serves as a Director of Fidelity Bank Limited. He has been a Non-Executive Director of Unilever Ghana Limited since November 1, 2016. He served as a Director of Takoradi International Company Limited since 2002 until 2009. He serves as Council Member of University of Ghana Council. He was Executive Council Member of the Africa Venture Capital Association since 2000 until 2005, Council Member of the Ghana Stock Exchange since 2006 until 2007, Golden Beach Hotels Limited since 2001 until 2004 and Ghana Agro Food Complex since 2005 until 2006. In November 2011, he was one of three entrepreneurs from Ghana who made it to the finalists in the Ernst & Young’s premier Entrepreneur of the Year West Africa Awards. In 2015, he won the CIMG Marketing Man of the Year award, a prestigious award to people who have distinguished themselves in business. In March 2001, he was selected as one of the best twenty young leaders in Ghana for the inaugural class of the Ghana chapter of the Africa Leadership Initiative, modeled after the Aspen Institutes’ highly successful Henry Crown Fellowship Program. Mr. Effah is a Chartered Accountant by profession and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
